My name is Naomi Ortiz and I just finished the 7th grade at Thomas Starr King Middle School in the Gifted Arts and Tech Magnet Program. My parents are Rhonda Ortiz and Ruben Ortiz Torres. I also have a sister, Regina Ortiz, who is a year and a half older than me. In my free time I enjoy doing crafts that I find on the internet and hanging out with my friends.

For my Mitzvah Project I am volunteering with TreePeople and helping care for young trees in places that trees have been lost because of drought and pests in Griffith Park. TreePeople is a great organization dedicated to planting and caring for trees and helping renew depleted landscapes.

I would like to thank Cantor Lizzie Weiss, Rabbi Sarah Bassin, Tutor Josh Goldberg, and everyone who helped me become a bat mitzvah.
