Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills and Greater Los Angeles

Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills and Greater Los Angeles

Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills is one of Southern California's premier Reform Jewish congregations. We are a proud synagogue serving West and Greater Los Angeles. Our temple community consists of multi-cultural, traditional, and non-traditional families; as well as single, interfaith, gay, and single-parent members.

I am currently going to Crossroads Middle School. I have been at Temple Emanuel since the first grade and it is an honor to finally have my Bar Mitzvah here with my twin brother, Caleb. I enjoy playing piano and saxophone. In addition to that, I enjoy composing music. I also like playing tennis and baseball.

It’s been a joy visiting Belmont village to play music for the elderly for my Mitzvah project. My brother and I both play for them about once every month. I play the piano and the saxophone, while he plays the piano and bassoon. It makes me feel really good to know that I am making other people happy through my music. Finally, I want to thank Cantor Lizzie Weiss, Josh Goldberg, and Rabbi Jonathan Aaron for helping me on my path to becoming a Bar Mitzvah.

I am a middle school student at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences. I enjoy doing martial arts, running cross country, speaking Mandarin, acting in plays, and playing the piano and bassoon. I also love to travel around the world. My parents are Brian and Renee Mann. I have a twin brother named Oliver.

For my Mitzvah project I played the piano and bassoon at Belmont Village Senior Center. I wanted to enlighten their day by playing songs that they could enjoy.  I went back on several occasions to play various pieces each time.

I want to thank Rabbi Jonathan Aaron, Cantor Lizzie Weiss, and Josh Goldberg.

My name is Joey Schwartz. I am a 7th grader at New West Charter School.  I like playing soccer, music, and hanging out with my friends. My parents are David and Kerri Schwartz and I have a younger sister named Nikki who is 11.  For my Mitzvah project, I will be doing a 5K run that raises money for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team For Cures. This charity is an outstanding cancer research foundation that is accelerating treatments to battle this blood cancer that currently has no cure. My grandfather has Multiple Myeloma, so I am doing this run and raising money for him.  Hopefully, the money I raise will get Multiple Myeloma patients closer to the ultimate goal: a cure.

I would like to thank Rabbi Bassin, Rabbi Aaron, Cantor Lizzie, Shelley Kamara, and Josh Goldberg for preparing and helping me to be as ready for my Bar Mitzvah as possible.  With their help and guidance, I am confident that I will be successful on this special day.

My name is Amos Blumberg.  I am passionate about going to camp at Camp Robin Hood in New Hampshire, Video Games and Fantasy sports.  I love going to Dodger games with my dad, Barry and hanging out with my mom, Paige.  I very much look forward to becoming a bar mitzvah at Temple Emanuel since I have been coming here for a very long time.  I started in Mommy and Me, went to the ECC and then religious school.  I have been waiting for this day my whole life!

I'm gon' praise Him, praise Him 'til I'm gone

When the praises go up, the blessings come down

It seems like blessings keep falling in my lap
