Join renowned Yiddish musician Zalmen Mlotek, a leading authority on Yiddish music and Artistic Director of the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, for a kumzits, an intimate Jewish gathering of music, song, stories, and community.
Mlotek was instrumental in bringing the award-winning, Joel Grey-directed Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish (Fidler Afn Dakh) to the New York stage and beyond, bringing to life an idea that began in 1965 when he first heard the Israeli cast recording and imagined one day producing Fiddler in Yiddish in America.
During this special kumzits, he’ll share the Yiddish soundtrack that has shaped his life, along with selections from the production ahead of its upcoming Los Angeles run at the Ahmanson Theatre beginning February 13, 2027.
The evening begins with a Sound Bath at 6:30 p.m., followed by an oneg at 7:30 p.m. Then, at 8 p.m., settle in for a joyful Kumzits with Zalmen Mlotek. Come sing along, listen, and experience the beauty and spirit of Yiddish music together.
You’re welcome to join us for the full evening or come just for the Kumzits.
