Do you play an instrument, sing in a choir, or just join in with the songs on your car radio? You
may not even realize the positive effects that music is having on your brain!
Did you know that making music has been shown to synchronize the mind and can serve as a
"full-body work out for the brain?"
Did you know that music seems to be retained in the brain differently than other sorts of
cognition such as memory and language and can be accessed as a form of communication when
other avenues are lost?
Do you know someone with memory issues or signs of cognitive challenges who would benefit
from this discussion?
Our guest speaker will be the amazing Carol Rosenstein, who founded Music Mends Minds
(MMM) in 2014 when her husband Irwin, a successful lawyer, world traveler, and lover of show
tunes, began slipping away after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. You'll hear about
Carol’s amazing discoveries about the power of music and how she has been the force behind
the establishment of MMM orchestras, bands, and choirs around the globe!
Carole will be joined by Myra Lurie, who co-founded an MMM band in Beverly Hills. Also on
hand will be Adele Plotkin, an MMM board member and spouse of the conductor of the
"flagship" MMM band.
Please join us--whether you or a loved one can benefit from an MMM program or whether you
are just fascinated by the link between music and the brain.
