YOM KIPPUR CONTEMPORARY ISSUES FORUM:
CHANGING TIMES: RETHINKING HISTORICAL MONUMENTS AND WHAT THEY COMMEMORATE

A Behrendt Conversation

The United States is embroiled in disagreement about how we understand our history in everything from the removal of Confederate monuments to the renaming of military bases and the argument over what our schools teach.  Join Rabbi Sarah Bassin, former president of the American Civil War Museum Christy Coleman and German Consul General Stefan Schneider to make sense of our American conversation and learn from Germany’s example of grappling with the history and legacy of the Holocaust in its public spaces and collective memory.
