TRADITIONAL
RECIPE

POTATO LATKES 

Ingredients:

5 large potatoes (peeled)

1 large onion
1 dash salt and pepper
1 apple
3 tbsp flour
3 eggs
Oil for frying
 

Instructions:

Grate potatoes, onion and apple into a large bowl filled with water to prevent potatoes and apple from turning brown. Drain.

 
Mix in flour and eggs.
 
Drop spoonful into hot oil, turning once when edges turn medium brown. 
 
Drain on paper towels.
 
Serve with applesauce and/or sour cream. 
 
Variation – Substitute sweet potatoes and a pear (omit onion)
