Alyla Crow Bat Mitzvah – April 17, 2021

Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills

I am a student attending my 8th year at Beverly Vista. My friends are my whole world because they always make me laugh. I have a lot of hobbies including Contortion, Acrobatics, Taekwondo, and Dance. My parents are Alana and Andrew Crow, and we all love snuggling with our Shih Tzus, Halo and Rosie.

My love for animals is the basis for my Bat Mitzvah Project. My passion is Animal Rights because some people do not know that animals from frogs to birds to elephants are harmed in so many ways every day. My Sunday School class and I got to choose an organization to work with and I chose the most influential nonprofit in the world PETA – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Two PETA representatives visited my class on February 2nd (last year), and did a presentation on how people can help animals instead of harm them. They even brought in hot, mini Beyond Meat Burgers and vegan chocolate pudding! It was all delicious! I am hopeful that my classmates learned something about Animal Rights and will tell their family and friends so we can all make the world a kinder and safer place for animals.

I am so grateful to my parents, Rabbi Bassin, Cantor Weiss and Shelly Kamara who all helped me on my road to becoming a Bat Mitzvah at Temple Emanuel.
