Ben Velick Bar Mitzvah – May 29, 2021

Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills

I am an 8th grader at John Adams Middle School in Santa Monica. I love to skateboard all around Santa Monica with my friends and love skating at as many different skateparks as possible. I also love to swim when I can. I especially love swimming at my grandparents’ home in Palm Desert.
My parents are Debra and Paul Velick. I have two cats named Pandy and B-Cat who do nothing but sleep, eat and play.

For my mitzvah project, I helped homeless people. I made sandwiches for them so they didn’t have to go without food for a little while and supplied them with care packages. These contained toothbrushes and toothpaste, beanies and socks. PATH helped me to do this by
getting a group together and helping to give to these people. It has taught me that doing the right thing always brings you happiness.

I would like to thank Rabbi Aaron, Cantor Weiss, Shelly Kamara, Perry Oretzky and Karen Porper for helping me prepare for my Bar Mitzvah.

Do the right thing…it will bring you happiness.
