Sue and Barry Brucker
A Legacy of Love and Community
For nearly three decades, Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills has been the spiritual and community home for Sue and Barry Brucker. Over the years, the classes, programs, and experiences offered by Temple Emanuel have not only enriched their minds but also deeply stirred their souls.
“Our phenomenal clergy have been there for us through every significant moment in our lives,” the Bruckers reflect. “They’ve stood by us during the bar and bat mitzvahs of our children, celebrated the weddings of our children, and blessed the baby namings of our grandchildren. During the hardest times—funerals, shivas for our parents, and health challenges—they’ve held our hands and our hearts.”
But the Bruckers’ connection to Temple Emanuel goes beyond lifecycle events. The temple has also provided them with a community of lifelong friends and a wealth of unique experiences. “Years ago, we participated in intergenerational plays and productions, traveled with Rabbi Geller and her beloved husband, Richard Siegel, z”l, to Israel on a mission, and joined a Chavurah,” they recall. “We’ve taken classes with our clergy, served on the Board, and supported our annual fundraiser to ensure our shul flourishes.”
For the Bruckers, the richness of their lives is inextricably linked to the many opportunities offered by Temple Emanuel. “There is so much Temple Emanuel offers to our members and our community,” they say. “If more people took advantage of these gifts, their lives would be abundantly enriched.”
Now, inspired by the legacy of their own parents, Sue and Barry Brucker are committed to paying it forward. “Our parents were wonderful role models who left generous contributions to their synagogue and special charities as part of their legacy,” they explain. “In the spirit of l’dor v’dor, we have chosen to leave a generous legacy gift to Temple Emanuel. We are confident this will inspire our children to do the same.”
Sue and Barry’s story is a testament to the lasting impact Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills has on its community. Their generous legacy gift ensures that we will continue to be a place of spiritual growth, support, and connection for generations to come.
